Remote and Flexible Instruction Days, Delays
Flexible Instruction Days: What Families Need to Know
Flexible Instruction Days (FID) provide an alternative learning environment where educators deliver varied educational activities to ensure students maintain their academic progress and stay engaged with their studies. Flexible Instructional Days allows teachers to present lessons that deepen students' understanding of the curriculum. This approach ensures continuity of education and fosters student connectivity and involvement, even when they are not physically present in the classroom.
How to Access Live Instruction
- Students will log in to Canvas to access live Google Meet links for instruction.
- Canvas will also serve as the hub for individual teacher links and independent assignments to be completed after instruction.
- If a teacher is absent and no substitute is available, a message will be posted in the Canvas course with a daily assignment.
Student Responsibilities
- Students should check their email at the start of the day and periodically throughout the day for important messages from teachers.
- Teachers may send a private Google Meet link for students who need additional support during the resource period at the end of the day.
Elementary Student Access
- Elementary schedules vary by building and grade level to align with the regular school day, so students in different grades will have classes at different times.
- Students will begin their day in their homeroom Canvas course, where they will find the link to join their homeroom teacher’s live session.
- Teachers will guide students throughout the day, helping them navigate their schedule while limiting the number of different links they need to access.
- Students may still need to click additional links as they transition through their scheduled lessons.
